It's a well-known fact that LeBron James is regarded as one of the GOAT's on the hardwood, which wouldn't be possible if he hadn't dedicated his whole life to the game.
On the other hand, that also wouldn't have been possible if James didn't have an adequate life outside of basketball, revolving around his family and love life, whom he considers his biggest support in what he does.
James is known as a family man, being a father to his two sons, LeBron "Bronny" James Jr. and Bryce Maximus and one daughter, Zhuri Nova. He and his high school sweetheart and wife, Savannah, have been together since they were 16, and are still going strong. It's safe to say that James never had trouble in his love life and has some wisdom to share beyond basketball.
Recently, James appeared on the "Everybody's Crazy" podcast, hosted by his wife, where he gave his unfiltered opinion on modern relationships.
"It's some cutthroat, ruthless ass bit-hes out there. Listen, I'm in the locker room and sh-t, you know, it's a lot of women out here that's kinda flipped the script. You know, it's some homies out here that's tryna do good too, and just, you know, tryna figure it out. Now they look in the mirror and sayin, 'Damn, what did I do wrong?' Homies, it ain't you. If it's meant to be, it's meant to be," James said .
Behind the curtain
Professional athletes are under constant pressure, whether it's performance, health, or physical shape. As a result, all their energy is devoted to being the best among their peers, neglecting other aspects of their lives.
With that being the case, athletes' vices have always been women, but not the right ones. Since they have so much money, power, and influence, they become a magnet for women, specifically those who are only looking for something other than their personality, which brings a lot of trouble for them later on, if not immediately.
The pattern has been established long ago, but in today's social media world, athletes' private lives are often made public. Many cases of baby-mama drama, divorces and even fights have been on record.
This leads athletes to carry unnecessary baggage and experience performance problems, simply because they are vulnerable to this kind of woman. Despite that, not all the blame can be put on them; at that level of fame and fortune, it is very hard to find a real partner who has their best interest in mind, not to mention materialistic things.
Outside of women, temptations are scattered all across the board for athletes; it is very difficult to deal with such things daily. If one is not mentally tough enough and has the right people around them, it can get really sinister, as seen before.
Double standards
A wide range of personal problems among athletes can lead to a divide in public reaction, primarily along gender and celebrity lines, with many justifying their own affiliations. Bias can also play a significant role in this, with many justifying their favorite player's mistakes, rather than considering the broader context.
This brings tension between a real cause and a derogatory framing, with many cases of false accusations, like sexual assault . Such statements and situations can spark a significant discourse between athletes and women regarding privacy, respect, vulnerability, and accountability.
Nothing is private nowadays, and it can all be interpreted as a reality show, which can be exhausting for everyone. With increasing financial resources, media exposure, and publicity, the balance between life on and off the court is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain. If the athletes aren't smart enough, this problem will continue to grow.
