It wasn't just Caitlin Clark who made waves in the Indiana Fever 's 88-71 win over the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday. Veteran guard Sophie Cunningham also drew a lot of attention, not for her performance in the game--although she did finish with five points and seven rebounds--but rather, for getting herself ejected in the dying moments of the blowout.

Cunningham got called for a flagrant foul 2 for bringing down Sun guard Jacy Sheldon during a fastbreak play. An altercation quickly erupted, which ultimately led to multiple player ejections, including Cunningham.

For what it's worth, it was Sheldon who poked Clark in the eye earlier in the game, which was another incident that caused quite a commotion on the floor.

According to the WNBA rule book , a flagrant foul 2 warrants an automatic fine. Reports confirmed that Cunningham was, indeed, slapped with a fine for her actions in the game, although it was also revealed that she would not be facing a suspension.

These turn of events have drawn some strong reactions from Fever fans, who have been praising Cunningham for what she did during the game. It was the 6-foot-1 guard who drew a lot of attention in Indiana's recent Instagram post.

"Sophie walking in to an entire new fan club after the last one. Let's gooooo 🔥🔥" a comment read.

"Let's go Sophie!🙌" another said.

"SOPHIE,SOPHIE,SOPHIE!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏" a user posted.

"@sophie_cham got that dawg in her," a reaction read.

"Thank you @lexiehulll and @sophie_cham for having CCs back," said another.

"we need them sophie jerseys on the site asap," demanded a fan.

A video from Tuesday's game is also making its rounds on social media where fans at Gainbridge Fieldhouse were seen cheering for Cunningham right after her hard foul on Sheldon.

Cunningham, who joined the squad as an offseason recruit, isn't exactly a star, but there's no denying that she's grown quite a following among the Fever faithful as of late.
