Aaron Rodgers led his Pittsburgh Steelers to victory over the New York Jets in what's been billed as the biggest revenge game of the 2025 season — and the veteran quarterback has since broken his silence following the Week 1 win.
Following the Steelers ' 34-32 victory, Rodgers shared why defeating the Jets held a special place in his heart.
"It was nice to win, especially hearing some of the cat calls out there — and the boo birds," Rodgers told reporters . "I'm not sensitive about that. I expected that. I kind of liked that. There were probably people in the [Jets] organization that didn't think I could play anymore. It was nice to remind those people that I still can."
Later in the postgame press conference, Rodgers was asked if defeating New York was more significant because of his soured relationship with Jets HC Aaron Glenn.
"I was happy to beat everybody associated with the Jets," Rodgers said with a smirk.
Back in April, Rodgers claimed that he flew across the country to meet with Glenn and Jets GM Darren Mougey about his future in New York — and twenty seconds into the meeting, they told him he wasn't wanted back. A back-and-forth argument between Rodgers and Glenn ensued, leaving the veteran quarterback upset by the unprofessional nature of the meeting.
Rodgers more than silenced the doubters with his strong Week 1 performance — completing 22 of 30 passes for 244 yards and four touchdowns, posting an incredible 136.7 passer rating.
Steelers Nation should thank Glenn for his poor judgment in letting Rodgers walk — as it's clear the 41-year-old quarterback has enough juice in the tank for a deep playoff run.
