Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers points to 1 play as turning point for offense in loss
Sunday night's loss was a game of momentum shifts between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers . The Steelers came out and snatched up the momentum early, and despite the struggles, led 16-7 at halftime and were getting the ball first to start the second half.
This is when things turned, according to quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the blame for that falls squarely at the feet of the officials.
Pittsburgh had the ball on their own 29-yard line and it was third-and-eight. Rodgers drew the Packers defensive line offsides, which means he gets a free play. Rodgers took a shot downfield but it was incomplete. That didn't matter though, because with the penalty the Steelers were now sitting pretty with only three yards to go. Right?
Wrong. The officials not only missed one of the most obvious penalties in the game but, upon conferring about it, doubled down and didn't throw the flag. The Steelers end up having to punt and according to Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, this was when the momentum swung back to the Packers and they never let it go.
"Seemed like the guy was offsides on third and eight," Rodgers said after the game.
As you can see from the video above, this was about as easy of a call the officials could have made.
