From Steelers Now :
With their second pick in the seventh round, the Pittsburgh Steelers selected Central Michigan cornerback Donte Kent . The selection also wraps up the Steelers' 2025 draft haul.
Kent is the first player that the Steelers have drafted from Central Michigan since Antonio Brown in 2010.
Kent, a Harrisburg native, was a three-time All-Mid-American Conference honoree and four-year starter at Central Michigan. He started 48 career games at cornerback for the Chippewas.
In 53 career games, he made 234 tackles (171 solo), 4.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sack, two interceptions, 47 pass breakups, 49 passes defended, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and a blocked kick.
Kent also has return abilities. As a punt returner as a senior, he averaged 13.6 yards per punt return. Kent ran a 4.38 at his pro day. He also recorded a 38.5 inch vertical, 10-3 broad jump. So there's definitely some upside with his athleticism and versatility. He can play on punt and kick return, play gunner, and has been on kickoff coverage.
Kent joins a Steelers' cornerback room that features Joey Porter Jr. , veteran Darius Slay , Cory Trice and Brandin Echols . Kent can play in the slot and on the outside at cornerback.
Like fellow s eventh-round selection Carson Bruener , Kent will have to impress on special teams to earn a spot on the roster.
Kent's brother is Desmond Kent, who's a former running back at Robert Morris.
