Last week, the weak link in the Pittsburgh Steelers defense was the defensive line. According to Pro Football Focus, nose tackle Keeanu Benton earned a 48.7 grade, defensive end Isaiaihh Loudermilk had a 39.3 grade and defensive tackle Cam Heyward finished with a 68.4 grade. Heyward's grade is a team high but only good enough for No. 28 among defensive tackles.
Sounds like this is a group that needs more reps together, right? Maybe not. At least Heyward doesn't think so. The Steelers have practiced twice so far this week and the best Heyward could give the team is limited participation on Wednesday. He had a vet rest day on Thursday, along with edge defender T.J. Watt , who also needs all the snaps he can get, given his lack of production.
Pittsburgh got the win last week but it had almost nothing to do with the defensive line. This week, the Steelers will go ahead of a Seattle team who were embarrassed last week and is hoping to go after a leaky Steelers run defense with two quality backs.
