Texas A&M senior ranked in PFF's Top 10 defensive linemen in the 2026 NFL Draft

Texas A&M's 2025 defensive line is somewhat revamped heading into Saturday's 2025 season-opener against UTSA on Saturday night. Still, it will include returning starters DJ Hicks and Albert Regis , who, along with Iowa State transfer Tyler Onyedim , will fill out the starting interior defensive line.

Regis, who, according to Texas A&M's first official depth chart released on Tuesday night, enters the 2025 season as the team's starting nose tackle, which is unsurprising given his impressive preseason performance paired with his vast experience as a starter/rotational defensive lineman in the SEC. Last season, Regis recorded a career high of 36 tackles, 16 solo tackles, and six pass deflections, which only trailed edge Cashius Howell (7) and Will Lee III (10).

As I've stated throughout the offseason, Texas A&M's defensive line will need to overcome the losses of Shemar Stewart , Shemar Turner , and Nic Scourton . Still, for those who noticed all three players' production drop off late last season, Regis and Cashius Howell are determined to lead the Aggies in several defensive categories, paired with former five-star prospect DJ Hicks, who is entering the most pivotal year of his career and needs to live up to his vast potential.

"We have had more NFL Draft picks on the defensive line since I got here in 2018 than any other team in the SEC. We're comfortable replacing great players. DJ Hicks, Albert Regis, Rylan Kennedy, and Cashius Howell will step up."

Still, Albert Regis is the man of the hour in the article, and I fully expect him to be involved in nearly every run play this season, while also contributing to the pass rush. On Tuesday, Pro Football Focus NFL Draft analyst Trevor Sikkema placed Regis at No. 8 in his Top 10 defensive tackle prospects ahead of the 2026 draft, which is excellent news for the La Porte, Texas native.

Regis finished the 2024 season with an impressive 74.5 defensive grade and 78.5 run defense grade, according to Pro Football Focus , fitting perfectly with Sikkema's latest ranking.
