Texas A&M star QB named AP National Player of the Week

No. 3 Texas A&M's (10-0, 7-0 SEC) 31-30 comeback win over South Carolina wasn't just historic, but served as starting quarterback Marcel Reed's best performance of the season, as the redshirt sophomore threw for a career high 439 yards, including 298 yards and three touchdowns in the second half after two first half interceptions, leading to a 30-3 deficit entering halftime.

Reed's poise and confidence in his elite receiving corps led to the Aggies scoring on nearly every drive in the second half, as the redshirt sophomore completed 16/20 passes, including 4/5 on explosive plays (20-plus yards) after connecting with WR Izaiah Williams for a 27-yard touchdown and Ashton Bethel-Roman for a 39-yard score.

Reed's early mistakes mirrored his first-half performance against LSU , where he also threw two early interceptions, only to lead the Aggies to a 49-25 road win in Baton Rouge, which was followed up by another efficient game in the pocket against Missouri , where he threw for 241 yards and two touchdowns in the 38-17 victory.

Heading into Saturday's Week 13 home matchup vs. Samford, Marcel Reed has thrown for 2,632 yards and 22 touchdowns, combined with 391 rushing yards and six scores. After his career performance, the Tennessee native was named AP National Player of the Week.

With two games left in the regular season, Reed is still on the path to becoming a Heisman Trophy Finalist.
