Texas QB Commit Reveals SEC Powerhouse Is Making Push To Flip Him
Texas QB Commit Reveals SEC Powerhouse Is Making Push To Flip Him originally appeared on Athlon Sports .
Led by head coach Steve Sarkisian, the Texas Longhorns have produced an amazing 2026 recruiting class , ranking No. 2 in the SEC and No. 5 in the nation with 21 total commitments.
The biggest piece to that group is quarterback Dia Bell, whom Rivals Industry Rankings places as a five-star prospect, the No. 1 quarterback, the No. 1 player in Florida and the No. 4 player in the nation.
However, despite being committed to Texas since June 17, 2024, several other programs are still keeping tabs on Bell, including the LSU Tigers .
Bell Reveals Relationship with LSU
While talking to Rivals' Marcus Benjamin, the Texas commit revealed that the SEC program continues to stay in communication in hopes of a flip.
"It’s really LSU," Bell said. "They’ve always been there. I’ve always had a great relationship with [offensive coordinator] Coach [Joe] Sloan. He’s still chipping away, trying to get me to come out, but I have not made any plans to visit LSU at this point.”
LSU, which has hosted Bell on three visits, has yet to land a quarterback in the 2026 class , making their pursuit of a flip become more of a necessity than a luxury.
Texas Can't Afford to Lose Bell
The potential of losing one of the nation's most sought-after players is always a scary thought, and is only amplified by the fact that Bell is the only quarterback Texas has landed in this year's cycle.
To make matters worse, not a single quarterback within the top 50 of Rivals Industry Rankings is uncommitted. The top options still available are three-star Nelson Peterson (No. 57 QB) and three-star Ziondre Williams (No. 71 QB).
If LSU were successful in their pursuit of Bell, then the Longhorns would be left scrambling and may need to orchestrate a flip of their own with the top-level talent already taken.
