The wait is over.
Jacksonville Jaguars rookie two-way player Travis Hunter scored his first NFL touchdown in the game versus the Los Angeles Rams on Oct. 19.
Hunter scored on a 33-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Trevor Lawrence , reeling in the pass despite an illegal contact penalty from Quentin Lake .
The Jaguars entered the week with an emphasis to get Hunter involved more on offense, per head coach Liam Coen . As a result, he didn't play at all on defense during the first half.
But on his first defensive snap, he broke up a pass intended for Davante Adams to prevent a third down conversion for Los Angeles .
He's been a bright spot on an otherwise disappointing performance from the Jaguars.
Hunter leads the Jaguars in all pass catching statistics in the fourth quarter. He has the most targets (11), most receptions (six), most yards (85) and caught the only touchdown Jacksonville has scored today.
Defensively, he's logged the one pass break up. The Jaguars are trailing 35-7 to the Rams in the fourth quarter and will likely take a loss into the bye week.
But Hunter's performance can be good momentum that the team can build from as they reset and regroup.
Through the first six games of his career, Hunter has recorded 20 catches on 31 targets with 197 yards. If the trend continues from Week 7, those numbers will likely see a major jump in the second half of the season.
