USC running back Waymond Jordan to undergo ankle surgery, expected to miss 4-6 weeks

One of the biggest aspects of USC football 's 31-13 victory over Michigan Saturday was the emergence of walk-on running back King Miller . However, the reason that Miller was able to get his opportunity was because the Trojans ' top two running backs, Waymond Jordan and Eli Sanders , both left the game with injuries.

On Sunday, we got an injury update on Jordan, and it is not a great one. According to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports , Jordan will undergo ankle surgery that is expected to keep him out 4-6 weeks.

With seven weeks remaining in the regular season, the timing is particularly brutal for USC . Under the aforementioned timeline, the best case scenario would be Jordan returning for the Trojans' November 15 game vs. Iowa , while he could potentially be out through the November 29 regular season finale vs. UCLA .

Based on Lincoln Riley's comments after the game, it sounds as though Sanders will be out for an extended period as well. With those two not suiting, USC will rely on Miller and sophomore Bryan Jackson to carry the load at running back.
