The late great Kobe Bryant
was renowned for his extraordinary talent and bold and flamboyant persona. Early in his stellar NBA career, "Black Mamba" already carved out a distinct identity for himself. Over time, his on-court attitude and magnetic aura gradually became integral components of his storied legacy.
While Kobe wasn't really known for being a relentless trash-talker, he was never one to shy away from verbal altercations, even against seasoned veterans. During his final NBA season, Bryant found himself on the other end of these trash-talk duels. A young player from the opposing team made the audacious decision to say something to him in the middle of a game.

True to form, the Los Angeles Lakers
superstar hit back with a sharp and memorable retort that not only silenced the youngster but also reinforced his status as a formidable competitor and a pioneer in the sport.
" We were playing Portland, and a kid from the bench said something to me like, 'We're going to beat you guys tonight,'"
the five-time MVP said
in a presser back in 2015. "And I looked at him and I said: 'I got one rule. If you weren't born when I started playing, you can't talk trash. It's a simple rule.' And he looked at me and said, 'Yes, sir.' No argument."
Most youngsters looked up to Kobe
Due to the rapid and continuous evolution of the NBA, some newcomers could not fully grasp Kobe's profound legacy. However, a significant number of players were deeply influenced by Bryant growing up. As they entered the league, these young players took it upon themselves to honor Bean and his impact on the game, particularly during his final season in the NBA.

Their gestures of respect and admiration speak volumes about Kobe's greatness and legendary career. As per "Black Mamba," one of these incidents occurred when the Lakers faced the Detroit Pistons
in a regular-season game.
" When we played Detroit, we had the captain's meeting, and they allow two captains,
" Bryant vividly recalled. "And I go up there, and they had Andre Drummond and the other captain, and there was another player up there, but I couldn't see who it was because he was behind Andre Drummond. And the official goes, 'You can't have three captains, you're only allowed to have two.' And he goes, 'Oh, no, I just wanted to shake [Kobe's] hand.'"
"I didn't know who it was. He was behind Andre Drummond. All I saw was a hand come from around Andre, and I shook it,"
he continued.
