BATON ROUGE — It was not the end to a great regular season that Kim Mulkey and LSU women's basketball had hoped for as March Madness awaits around the corner.
Back-to-back losses to No. 20 Alabama on the road, 88-85, in overtime and to Ole Miss, 85-77, at home in the regular season finale was head-spinning. Couple that with Mulkey deciding to shut Tigers star Flau'jae Johnson down through next week's SEC Tournament in Greenville, S.C. and how No. 7 LSU (27-4, 12-4 SEC) wrapped up the season feels like a gut-punch.

LSU WBB SEC TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE Where is LSU women's basketball in SEC Tournament bracket? What to know about Tigers' seed
In the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee's last top 16 seeds reveal last Thursday night before Selection Sunday in a couple of weeks, LSU was the 7th overall seed. So two losses against teams that are already projected to make the 68-team field isn't enough to sink Mulkey's team much at all.
After the two tough losses, here's where LSU stands in the latest March Madness bracketology.
Despite the pair of defeats, according to ESPN's women's bracketologist Charlie Creme, LSU's seed line was not affected in his latest bracket released Monday morning. Creme have the Tigers projected as the No. 2 seed in Spokane 2, the region that has USC as the No. 1 seed. LSU has been paired with UCLA as the No. 1 seed. In Creme's latest projections, LSU would host No. 15 Southeastern Louisiana in Baton Rouge, joined by No. 7 Louisville and No. 10 Nebraska.
Selection Sunday is March 16 when the full 68-team field will be revealed. The tournament opens March 19 and March 20 with the First Four games before the first round officially gets underway March 21-22.
The Final Four will be in Tampa at Amalie Arena, starting April 4. The NCAA championship game will be April 6 at 2 p.m. CT on ABC.
