Texas football became the latest ranked team casualty during the 2025 college football season.
The No. 7 Longhorns struggled to get going early against a Florida team that was coming off three straight losses. Arch Manning threw two interceptions and was sacked six times as the Gators pulled off a 29-21 upset over the Longhorns at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, Florida , on Saturday, Oct. 4.

Florida scored 10 first-quarter points after Texas had not allowed any through the first four games of the season. The Gators compiled 457 total yards of offense after having just 141 total yards against Miami in a 26-7 loss on Sept. 20.
The Gators held a 19-7 halftime lead and led by as much as 29-14 heading into the fourth quarter.
The loss for Texas is especially damning, as it faces rival Oklahoma next week in the Red River Rivalry. However, with the 12-team College Football Playoff, the Longhorns are still alive for a potential playoff berth.
So, now the question is: Where will Texas fall in the US LBM Coaches Poll and AP Top 25 rankings ahead of Week 6? Here's a look at the possibilities:

Florida entered the Oct. 4 matchup as losers of three straight games and had scored just 33 points in three games against FBS opponents this season. Gators' head coach Billy Napier was firmly on the hot seat, so this loss against a previously hapless Florida team is a bad look.
Another factor going against the Longhorns is the fact that Arch Manning struggled again . He finished with two touchdowns and two interceptions, but looked timid at times and missed a handful of open throws for big plays or scores.
Penn State 's loss could soften the blowback for the Longhorns this week, but with seven other teams ranked inside the top 20 on bye this week, there's nowhere for Texas to hide from criticism among ranked teams.
Here's how the rest of the top 20 fared in Week 6, and how those games might affect the Longhorns' ranking:
