The moment every Texas Tech football fan has been waiting for is finally here. The Red Raiders are officially bowl eligible for the 2025 postseason.
Of course, simply getting to a bowl game has not been the point for the Red Raiders this season. Joey McGuire's team didn't spend a whole bunch of money just to get to a better bowl game. Texas Tech wants a spot in the College Football Playoff, and given how the Red Raiders have gotten to 6-0 on the season , the general consensus is they'll wind up in the grand bracket by season's end.
At the midway point of the schedule, here's a look at where the Red Raiders land in the latest College Football Playoff projections, including seed, game locations and potential opponents.
CBS Sports: 4-seed in College Football Playoff
Tom Fornelli at CBS Sports has Texas Tech earning the No. 4 seed in the College Football Playoff, which would give the Red Raiders a bye into the quarterfinals. Fornelli has USF as the No. 12 seed and Indiana as the No. 5 seed playing in Bloomington, the winner going on to face Texas Tech in the quarterfinals.
ESPN: 8-seed in College Football Playoff
ESPN's Heather Dinich has Texas Tech getting in as the No. 9 seed as the Big 12 champion. This gets the Red Raiders into the CFP field but having to play a road game at 8-seed Oregon in the first round. The winner of that game would play Ohio State in the quarterfinals.
Yahoo! Sports: 6-seed in College Football Playoff
Nick Bromberg at Yahoo! Sports is giving Texas Tech a game inside Jones AT&T Stadium by putting the Red Raiders as the No. 6 seed in the CFP field. Bromberg has a spicy matchup waiting for the Red Raiders in a battle of the Tech schools, Texas Tech hosting 11-seed Georgia Tech , which is where Romello Height transferred from in the offseason. Winner of this game would get 3-seed Indiana in the quarterfinals.
The Athletic: 3-seed in College Football Playoff
Austin Mock at The Athletic puts Texas Tech as the No. 3 seed in the CFP where the Red Raiders would play the winner of No. 6 Texas A&M vs. No. 11 Tennessee in the quarterfinals. Texas Tech and Texas A&M last played each other in 2011 before the Aggies headed off to the SEC.
