- Why Patriots CB ‘loves’ being drafted as ‘Mr. Irrelevant’
Over the course of three days, 257 players heard their name called at the NFL Draft.
Two-hundred-and-fifty six of them were announced before Kobee Minor, who the Patriots selected with the last pick of the seventh round.

A a 6-foot, 190-pound cornerback that played college football at three different spots, Minor was thrilled to finally get that phone call from New England.
"It's just a blessing. I've been waiting all day," Minor said. "I didn't know if I was going to get the call or not. I ended up waiting until the last pick and I ended up getting that call. My heart was racing. So I'm thankful."
A three-star recruit out of high school, Minor began his college career at Texas Tech (2020-22) before transferring first to Indiana (2023) and then to Memphis (2024). Because of his journey and never being highly-touted, Minor said he appreciates being the draft's very last pick.
"To me, I love it," Minor said. "Because I've never been a highly-recruited guy. I've never been one of the top guys. So really this isn't anything new to me. I'm going to just go out here, do what I've gotta do, put my head down and grind."

Of course, the last pick in the draft has long been known as Mr. Irrelevant. Minor is happy to add that nickname and believes it'll only further motivate him.
"I love it, actually," he said. "It's just fuel to my fire. I'm going to just continue to work and I'm excited for this opportunity."
Minor had an idea that New England was interested — he came to Foxborough on a Top 30 visit — and said he's willing and able to play anywhere in the secondary for Mike Vrabel.
