The post Wings' Paige Bueckers delivers 'nonchalant' strike in 1st pitch before Royals-Rangers appeared first on ClutchPoints .
Paige Bueckers is proving that there's almost nothing she can't do well. The young Dallas Wings star took the mound ahead of the Texas Rangers' 6-3 loss to the Kansas City Royals and threw a perfect strike with her teammates cheering her on from behind.
Bueckers' toss landed perfectly in the mitt of Rangers first base coach Corey Ragsdale, which she slyly played off as no big deal.
"I didn't put too much effort into it," Bueckers said. "I was trying to be a little nonchalant."
Bueckers elaborated on how she really felt going into the pitch, relatably talking about how she didn't want to end up on the wrong type of highlight reel.
"I just didn't really want to embarrass myself. I was trying to make up for yesterday's smoked layup, so I just wanted to do a little bit better than I did yesterday," Bueckers said, referring to a shot she missed in the Wings' 80-71 win over the Golden State Valkyries .
Bueckers' dynamic performance helped lead the Wings to their second win of the 2025 WNBA season and first in their home arena. The UConn alum dropped 20 points, four rebounds, and two assists in 38 minutes.

The 23-year-old has clearly adjusted well to her time in Texas, and she's already prepared to get even more involved with her local athletes. Bueckers revealed that she's planning to attend the 2025 NBA Draft and welcome a fellow No. 1 overall pick to the city.
Bueckers, like nearly every NBA fan, is prepared to see the Dallas Mavericks take Duke phenom Cooper Flagg, and the thought alone has brought the excitement to Bueckers and back to Dallas basketball.
"Obviously highly anticipated with it being Cooper," Bueckers said of the Mavericks' draft choice. "It's just an exciting time in Dallas for all the franchises and all the organizations."
Bueckers will look to add to the Wings' win total, and her 17.7 point average over her first nine games, when they return on June 20 to her lucky location of Connecticut to take on the struggling Sun .
