The San Francisco 49ers have been one of the most successful teams in the NFC in recent years. San Francisco made the NFL Playoffs once again in 2025, picking up a big postseason win over the Philadelphia Eagles . The 49ers eventually lost to the Seattle Seahawks , but the future looks bright.
During the 2026 NFL Draft, San Francisco drafted several players with potential. That includes wide receiver De'Zhaun Stribling, who was the team's second round pick.
There were other players that went undrafted however, that also have some great potential for the team moving forward. Here is one undrafted free agent who will make the 2026 49ers roster.

Jalen Stroman, a safety, could absolutely be on the San Francisco Opening Day roster. The safety played for Notre Dame in 2025 . He finished the season with 37 total tackles.
Stroman is one of the most experienced defensive backs in the country to go undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft. He spent four years with Virginia Tech, before his one season at Notre Dame in 2025.
The 49ers have some inexperience in the secondary, giving Stroman a shot to make a name for himself in training camp.
"The 49ers have starting safeties Ji'Ayir Brown and Malik Mustapha returning, along with second-year safety Marques Sigle who started seven of the 15 games he played as a rookie last season," USA Today reported. "Sigle's benching after Week 7 put a significant question mark over him going into Year 2 despite the fact he started the team's first seven games in his first season."
San Francisco drafted just one player who is a defensive back in the 2026 draft. That is cornerback Ephesians Prysock , who was selected in the fourth round. Since Prysock is a corner, that allows Stroman more of a chance to show what he can do since he is a safety.
Stroman is unafraid of contact. While playing at Virginia Tech, he had two seasons with at least 20 solo tackles. That came in 2022 and 2023. He had a career-high 55 total tackles in 2023 with the Hokies.
At Notre Dame, Stroman showed flashes of being one of the top safeties in the country.
"On Senior Day against Syracuse, Stroman enjoyed a career game that included a 44-yard interception return for a touchdown and a blocked punt that fellow safety Luke Talich returned for another early score in a 70-7 romp," the South Bend Tribune reported.
Time will tell in the months ahead if Stroman can earn a spot on the 49ers team roster . San Francisco ended up winning 12 games during the 2025 NFL season.
