According to Sky Germany, the Bundesliga side are working on a deal to bring the experienced left-back to the RheinEnergieStadion. The 27-year-old is currently a free agent after his contract with French club Auxerre expired.
Mensah has featured prominently for Ghana at this summer's World Cup, playing every minute of the Black Stars ' campaign so far. Further talks are expected to take place once Ghana's involvement in the tournament comes to an end.

The defender made 30 Ligue 1 appearances for Auxerre last season, helping the club secure top-flight survival. Should a deal be completed, Mensah is expected to replace Kristoffer Lund , who recently departed the Billy Goats following the expiration of his loan deal.
