The New England Patriots ' offseason has been marred in Mike Vrabel controversy. But when the focus comes back to football, this is a team that was one win away from winning the Super Bowl .
New England is hopeful their 2026 draft class helps get them over the hump. Once the event ended, the Patriots signed 11 undrafted free agents, as of this writing. All of them will be looking to prove they belong at the NFL level.
It'll be an uphill battle for all of them, but now their foot is at least in the door. The Patriots are still looking for talent across their roster. If an UDFA impresses in training camp, their draft status won't preclude them from making the roster.
When it comes to the Patriots' UDFA class, there is one name that clearly stands out. With New England in need of receiving help, Kyle Dixon of of Culver-Stockton College is the most likely UDFA to make the roster.

Dixon's contract with the Patriots came with $252,000 million guaranteed . That's the third-highest amount New England has given to an UDFA, via Chad Graff of The Athletic. Based on that deal alone, the receiver's chances of making the final roster go up.
Of course, Dixon playing for Culver-Stockton, there will be plenty of questions about his ability to jump up to the NFL level. But the receiver was a star over his 22 games with the Wildcats, catching 143 passes for 2,394 yards and 24 touchdowns. His final season at Culver-Stockton saw him make 82 grabs for 1,282 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Alongside his work on the field, Dixon stands 6-foot-4 and was clocked at a 4.46 40-yard dash at his pro day. Those kind of intangibles are what had the Patriots interested in the first place. It'll be up to Dixon to prove his game translates seamlessly to the NFL.
Of course the elephant in the room remains the impending trade of Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver AJ Brown . The Patriots have long been deemed a suitor with many expecting a trade to occur after June 1. If that is the case, then New England's new for a receiver goes down.
Still, the Patriots want to surround quarterback Drake Maye with as much talent as possible. Assuming Brown is traded, he will be starting alongside Romeo Doubs and Mack Hollins . However, New England's depth behind them is a bit barren.
Dixon won't be guaranteed anything in terms of making the final roster. He will need to prove to be a fit in the offense and capable of making a sizable leap in competition. But New England clearly likes what they see in the wide receiver. He'll have a real opportunity of making the final roster.
