2 Jaguars players among PFF's most improved in 2025 season

Two members of the Jacksonville Jaguars were named the most improved players at their respective position groups by Pro Football Focus.

Using PFF's grading system, Thomas Valentine noted which player from each position saw his grade take the biggest jump from 2024 to 2025.

At wide receiver, that was the Jaguars ' Parker Washington , and at safety, it was Antonio Johnson .

Washington's role expanded as the year went on as he developed into a go-to target for Trevor Lawrence .

When it was all said and done, including the postseason, Washington finished with 954 receiving yards on 65 catches in 2025 with six touchdowns. Of his 65 receptions, 42 went for first downs.

This included Washington eclipsing the 100-yard receiving mark in three of his final four games.

"Washington bettered his 59.7 overall grade from a year ago, averaging a career-high 2.19 yards per route run — 14th among receivers in the NFL," wrote Valentine. "He quietly became one of the league top contested catch options, hauling in 19 of 29 contested catches — the fourth-most among receivers."

Similarly with Johnson, his role increased as the year went on -- going from being the third safety on the field to someone that Anthony Campanile didn't want to take off the field.

Johnson was a reliable tackler and held opponents to just 8.8 yards per catch. He also had five interceptions and three pass breakups. Campanile and Liam Coen often raved about Johnson's play.

"Johnson’s calling card is his top-tier play in coverage," wrote Valentine. "Johnson has been one of the best tacklers at the position, too. His 86.7 PFF tackling grade is ninth at the position, and his 4.8% missed tackle rate is the fifth-lowest."
