The Buffalo Sabres have multiple notable pending free agents, both unrestricted and restricted. Yet, when noting that the Sabres do not have a ton of cap space right now, there is a chance that they could look to trade some of their players this off-season.
Sabres star defenseman Bowen Byram is one player who has been creating a lot of chatter in the rumor mill as he enters the final season of his contract in 2026-27. However, he was not the only player recently listed on Nick Kypreos' latest trade board for Sportsnet .

Kypreos also named Jason Zucker and Jordan Greenway as two forwards who the Sabres could end up moving to free up more cap space this off-season.
"Buffalo needs to free up money this summer and there are two players beyond Byram to watch because of this. One is Zucker, who will make $4.75 million against the cap for one more season, and the other is Jordan Greenway, who has $4 million and one more year left on his deal," Kypreos wrote.
If the Sabres traded Zucker, they would be losing a solid top-nine forward who provides good offensive production and leadership. The 34-year-old winger had another strong season for Buffalo in 2025-26, posting 24 goals and 45 points in 62 games.
With Greenway, the Sabres would be moving on from a player who doesn't produce much offense but gives them a ton of size and grit. The 6-foot-6 winger posted one goal, six points, and 57 hits this past season. Overall, he provides value with his gritty style of play, but his $4 million cap hit is definitely high for his role.
