2026 5-star Texas A&M signee reaffirms commitment amid coach change
It has been a chaotic string of news cycles since Texas A&M's 10-3 loss to Miami in the first round of the College Football Playoff. Coach Mike Elko made several changes to his 2026 coaching staff after Collin Klein and Jay Bateman left for new opportunities following Saturday's loss. And the news that defensive backs coach Jordan Peterson will follow Klein to Kansas State could affect recruiting.
Peterson, who helped recruit 2026 five-star cornerback Brandon Arrington, a Texas A&M signee, can't be easily replaced, especially given his connection as a former Aggie football player. Still, the news Elijah Robinson will return to College Station to replace Sean Spencer, who is headed to Virginia Tech as the co-defensive line coach, helps soften that loss. Robinson is bringing an elite recruiting background that Aggie fans are familiar with.
Arrington, who signed his letter of intent earlier this month, remains locked in with the Aggies despite Peterson's departure. He believes coach Mike Elko and new defensive coordinator Lyle Hemphill have a plan in place for the elite athlete, who is more than talented enough to see the field during his freshman season.
He posted on X with a clear message of his dedication to Texas A&M. Arrington's steadfast loyalty is further evidence Elko has the program in the right direction. Making the CFP in Year 2 can't be described any other way than successful for Elko, who will continue to hire the right coaches to help the Aggies improve at every level.
