The 2026 NFL Draft should have the best group of pass rushing prospects since 2011 when JJ Watt
, Robert Quinn
, and Cam Jordan
were just a few of the big playmakers to take.
Find the pass rusher that everyone has to worry about, and you can change around an entire franchise.
This year's crop will take over the top of the draft, and they'll keep on coming. From the college football perspective, here's CFN's ranking of the best of the bunch.

Best Value Prospect
R Mason Thomas
, Oklahoma
In most years, Thomas would be one of the top five edge rushers off the board, but in the 2026 NFL Draft, he might be seen as just another guy.
He'll likely go somewhere between the mid-third round and early fifth because of his lack of bulk and speed, but the guy knows how to make plays.
Top Sleeper Edge Rusher
Romello Height, Texas Tech
This might be a bit ridiculous considering he'll likely be among the top 100 players drafted, but Height will be overshadowed by his Red Raider teammate David Bailey, who should go somewhere in the top five overall.
Height doesn't have the size or blast of Bailey or some of the other top guys, but he's great at what he does - get to the quarterback. Add ten pounds of good weight, and look out.
Will Go Too Early
Arvell Reese, Ohio State
Relax ... RELAX. Yeah, he's amazing, with otherworldly tools and upside. But, technically, the No. 2 pick - which is where he'll likely be selected, top five overall at worst - might be a little bit of a gamble.
He's still growing into his talent, and he's a bit more of a projection than some might like. No, that doesn't mean he'll be a bust or anything, but in such a loaded year for the position, he had better be something truly special.
Best of the Rest Edge Rushers
(In alphabetical order, with the projected draft round in parentheses)
Dani Dennis-Sutton
, Penn State (3); Romello Height, Texas Tech (3); Malachi Lawrence, UCF (2); Trey Moore, Texas (4); TJ Parker, Clemson (2)
Derrick Moore
CFN EDGE Rank:10
College:Michigan
Projected Draft Round:2
Height/Weight:6-4, 255
2025 Stats:30 tackles, 10 sacks, 10.5 TFL, 3 PBU, 2 FF
The three-time All-Big Ten performer is more steady than sensational, but that's not a massive knock. He'll be a solid pro without much to worry about, even if he won't be splashy.
R Mason Thomas
CFN EDGE Rank:9
College:Oklahoma
Projected Draft Round:3
Height/Weight:6-2, 241
2025 Stats:26 tackles, 6.5 sacks, 9.5 TFL, 2 FF
A bit undersized, and a bit slow compared to this quick class, he'll probably drop because he doesn't quite have the high-end look, but he makes plays. Extra creative and crafty, he'll be great with bulk around him.
Cashius Howell
CFN EDGE Rank:8
College:Texas A&M
Projected Draft Round:2
Height/Weight:6-3, 253
2025 Stats:31 tackles, 11.5 sacks, 14 TFL, 6 PBU, 1 FF
Fast, dangerous, and with the versatility to do a little bit of everything, he started out at Bowling Green and then quickly proved he could handle life in the SEC.
He might not be much against the run at the next level, but he'll get his mail sent to opposing backfields.
Gabe Jacas
CFN EDGE Rank:7
College:Illinois
Projected Draft Round:2
Height/Weight:6-4, 260
2025 Stats:43 tackles, 11 sacks, 13.5 TFL, 1 PBU, 3 FF
A rock of a lineman, and among the best defensive linemen in the Big Ten over the last two seasons, he's a tough guy who'll be a leader. The explosive blast isn't quite there, but there aren't any worries taking him after the first wave of speed rushers.
Keldric Faulk
CFN EDGE Rank:6
College:Auburn
Projected Draft Round:1
Height/Weight:6-6. 262
2025 Stats:29 tackles, 2 sacks, 5 TFL, 4 PBU
The best pure defensive end in the draft, he moves great for his size with the bulk to hold up against the run. Don't let the meh pass rushing stats from last year fool you - he's an NFL pass rusher with a high floor.

Zion Young
CFN EDGE Rank:5
College:Missouri
Projected Draft Round:1
Height/Weight:6-6, 276
2025 Stats:42 tackles, 6.5 sacks, 16.5 TFL, 2 PBU, 2 FF
Looks the part, plays the part, and has the skill set to be used as a quick end or a big edge rusher. While he's not as explosive as the top pass rushers, he brings more versatility.
Akheem Mesidor
CFN EDGE Rank:4
College:Miami
Projected Draft Round:1
Height/Weight:6-3, 259
2025 Stats:63 tackles, 12.5 sacks, 17.5 TFL, 4 FF
The former West Virginia transfer was helped by having Rueben Bain on the other side - and vice versa - bringing a tremendous motor and tremendous closing skills. He'll never get cheated on a play, making up for deficiencies with effort.
Rueben Bain
CFN EDGE Rank:3
College:Miami
Projected Draft Round:1
Height/Weight:6-2, 263
2025 Stats:54 tackles, 9.5 sacks, 15.5 TFL, 1 PBU, 1 FF
There's the short arms issue (ridiculous) and the off-the-field concern involving a car accident
(not ridiculous), but keeping it on the field, he's a baller's baller who's always making a push to the passer. No, he's not the perfect prospect, but he'll produce.
Arvell Reese
CFN EDGE Rank:2
College:Ohio State
Projected Draft Round:1
Height/Weight:6-4, 241
2025 Stats:69 tackles, 6.5 sacks, 10 TFL, 2 PBU
Super fast, super young, and with the upside to grow into any system as a lightning-quick pass rusher, or grow into more of a big outside linebacker with a little bit of time.
No, he's not a finished talent, and yes, the Big Ten production could've been a little more dominant, but this is a pick for the stars. If this works, he's a franchise-changing pass rusher.
David Bailey
CFN EDGE Rank:1
College:Texas Tech
Projected Draft Round:1
Height/Weight:6-4, 251
2025 Stats:52 tackles, 14.5 sacks, 19.5 TFL, 3 PBU, 3 FF
Arvell Reese might be the better overall prospect, but that's more on projection. Bailey can be turned loose from Day One and be expected to dominate.
He might not bring the thump, but what do you care if he's pressuring the quarterback several times a game?
