2026 NFL Draft scouting report: Ted Hurst, WR, Georgia State

With the vast number of prospects in every draft cycle, you are bound to find a few guys at smaller schools who could make an impact as a late-round draft pick. One name being discussed heavily heading into the 2026 NFL Draft is Georgia State 's Ted Hurst . Hurst was a major producer during his time in college, but are we certain he is the small-school darling teams should target?

Let's talk about it.

Hurst, a zero-star recruit out of Sol C. Johnson High School in Savannah, Georgia, originally committed to Division II Valdosta State , where he would post huge numbers in two seasons. He would leverage that into an offer from Georgia State, where he would continue his impressive play. In 2025, Hurst totaled 71 receptions for 1,004 yards and six touchdowns, earning First Team All-Sun Belt honors.

Maybe I am way off base, but there is no juice here worth the squeeze. A big, physical receiver who struggles to catch passes, runs sloppy routes from poor footwork, and can not block worth a lick. Don't get me wrong, he has fairly decent long speed for a player his size and can track the ball well downfield. But if you struggle as much as he does on 50/50 passes for being 6'4, you have to be excellent in another area to make up for it, and Hurst is not.

I hate to rain on the parade of the Ted Hurst believers, but if you are hoping to get some form of production out of Ted Hurst when some NFL team uses a third-round pick on him, you are setting yourself up for failure. Hurst is a UDFA and would not be someone I would prioritize bringing in to camp to compete for a roster spot.
