Minnesota Vikings training camp begins next week, signaling the start of another season. Most of the general focus will be on the quarterback competition, but there are several position battles across the roster.
This is the time of year we see some players begin to take the next step in their development. While it's still not "real football" until the pads come on, the level of competition intensifies during camp. Some players thrive in those environments, beginning to tap into their potential.
Here are three players who could breakout in Vikings training camp.
3 Players who could break out during Vikings' training camp in 2026
Dallas Turner , EDGE rusher
It may feel weird to put Turner here. He led the Vikings with eight sacks in 2026, starting 10 of the 17 games he played. But there are still questions surrounding him, especially now that Jonathan Greenard has been traded. Minnesota gave up a lot of draft capital to acquire Turner in the 2024 draft, and while he's shown flashes, the Vikings are ready to see him take hold of the job and live up to his draft status.
Levi Drake Rodriguez , DL
Rodriguez has been a solid rotational player since being drafted in the seventh round of the 2024 draft. But even though he is only entering his third season, Rodriguez is already one of the longest-tenured players in the room. Maybe he doesn't project as a full-time starter, but he can absolutely find a consistent role with rookies Caleb Banks and Domonique Orange learning Brian Flores' defense.
Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins , EDGE rusher
Ingram-Dawkins flashed as a rookie interior defensive lineman last year. But it sounds like the Vikings are poised to move the 6'5", 290-pound athletic specimen to EDGE rusher, providing the team with needed depth and potentially giving him more space on the outside to showcase his ability. Ingram-Dawkins will be battling former UDFAs Bo Richter , Chaz Chambliss , and Tyler Batty for the backup EDGE spot, and those three probably project better as special teams contributors than every-down defenders.
