The Milwaukee Brewers won 10-1 at Tropicana Field, taking a commanding 3-0 series lead. Their eight-run fifth inning turned a competitive Game 3 into a blowout, leaving the Rays one loss from elimination.
The Brewers collected 16 hits while limiting the Rays to three. Robert Gasser allowed one hit and one walk across six scoreless innings, and Jackson Chourio finished 4-for-5.

The Rays' offensive struggles and pitching failures created a disastrous combination. These three players deserve the most scrutiny.
3. Junior Caminero offered no offensive answer
Junior Caminero finished 0-for-3 without a walk, giving the Rays nothing from an important middle-of-the-order bat.

He popped out in the second inning, grounded out in the fifth and flied out in the eighth. With Gasser controlling the game, Caminero never reached base .
Several teammates also struggled, so the offensive blame extends beyond him. Still, the Rays needed production from a hitter expected to help drive their lineup.
Yandy Diaz collected two hits and drove in their only run. Caminero supplied no comparable contribution.
His fifth-inning throwing error allowed William Contreras to advance to second. The Brewers already led 10-0, so that mistake did not cause the collapse. It simply added to a disappointing performance.

2. Freddy Peralta left the Rays exposed
Freddy Peralta allowed five earned runs on seven hits and three walks over 4 2/3 innings, striking out four.
Christian Yelich and Contreras delivered RBI singles in the third, giving the Brewers a 2-0 lead. Peralta kept that deficit manageable until trouble developed in the fifth.
Chourio singled, Yelich walked, and Contreras reached after replay overturned an apparent inning-ending forceout at second.
Peralta departed with the bases loaded and two outs.
Only two runs had scored when he left. Cam Booser subsequently allowed all three inherited runners to score, completing Peralta's five-run line.

That distinction matters, but Peralta still created the dangerous situation. The Rays needed him to finish the inning and work deeper. Instead, their bullpen inherited an assignment with little room for error.
1. Cam Booser failed at the decisive moment
Booser needed one out to preserve a competitive game. He faced four hitters and retired none.
Brice Turang delivered a two-run single before Garrett Mitchell added an RBI single. Cooper Pratt followed with a two-run double, and Sal Frelick contributed an RBI double.
The Brewers' lead expanded from 2-0 to 8-0 during Booser's appearance.
All three inherited runners scored. Booser also was charged four earned runs, including his remaining runner who scored after Cole Sulser replaced him.

Peralta created the danger, but Booser failed to contain it. Every batter he faced reached safely, and the Brewers needed neither another walk nor a home run against him.

His outing turned a difficult situation into a rout.
By the fifth inning's conclusion, the Rays trailed 10-0. Booser's inability to record one out made him the clearest choice for the greatest share of blame.
The Rays now face a daunting 3-0 series deficit. One more night like this and their World Series ends with the Brewers celebrating on their turf.
