- 3 takeaways from the Steelers pick of WR Germie Bernard
We were hoping the Pittsburgh Steelers would be aggressive at the start of Day Two of the 2026 NFL Draft. The faster the Steelers could make fans forget about all the craziness of the first round the better. Pittsburgh wasted no time in getting on the clock by trading up with the Indianapolis Colts so they could select Alabama wide receiver Germie Bernard .
Here are our big takeaways from the pick.

Bernard gives the team options, lots of options
We've gone on and one about how much we love Bernard's versatility. Alabama lined him up all over the formation which is a testament to Bernard's football IQ and work ethic. Pittsburgh is going to be able to use him at running back, H-back, split out wide as a receiver or in the slot. Bernard can operate in a more traditional role or impact the offense with gadget plays.
Catches like a wide out, runs like a running back
One of our favorite things about Bernard's game is how hard he runs with the football in his hands. He reminds us a lot of former Steeler JuJu Smith-Schuster with how he looked like a running back once he got the ball and was fearless when it came to delivering a blow.

Spotlight on Roman Wilson
Adding Bernard puts Roman Wilson on notice that time is running out for him to have an impact on the offense. Wilson is a different type of player but with how much head coach Mike McCarthy is going to want to run the football, if Bernard takes over the No. 3 spot on the depth chart, Wilson won't have a spot.
