4 Potential Brendan Sorsby Landing Spots in the NFL Supplemental Draft
Texas Tech Red Raiders quarterback Brendan Sorsby faces the possibility of being stripped of his eligibility by the NCAA for reportedly betting on football games in 2022 while he was with the Indiana Hoosiers. If that happens, the NFL’s Supplemental Draft could be relevant once more.
While the supplemental draft once delivered starting-caliber players like Josh Gordon (2012) and Ahmad Brooks (2006), a player hasn’t been picked since 2019. Given the number of quarterback-needy teams around the league, Sorsby could change that if he decides to go pro.

They would have four years of contractual control and could develop him for a year before making him Love’s backup in 2027. After that, he’d still only be 24 years old and the Packers could potentially flip him for premium draft capital in the 2028 NFL Draft.

Dallas Cowboys

Fortunately, the Miami Dolphins already have a starting quarterback they are financially committed to for 2026. Malik Willis’ contract should ensure that he remains the Dolphins’ starter, allowing the coaching staff to use this season as a development year for Sorsby. If he makes a strong impression and demonstrates that he is ready to be elevated into being the starter, Miami could potentially have a top-three pick to use on wide receiver Jeremiah Smith.
New York Jets
If Brendan Sorsby is going to cost a second-round pick in the NFL’s supplemental draft, then the New York Jets stand out as a potential option. They already have three first-round picks in the 2027 NFL Draft, so that Round 2 selection already stands out as a potential trade chip.
