After 20 years in the NFL, veteran tight end Marcedes Lewis is hanging up his cleats.
Lewis, 41, joined the Denver Broncos ' practice squad in October after the team lost Nate Adkins to a knee injury. He appeared in five games (including one start), playing 81 snaps in 2025. Lewis was used as an extra blocking tight end and while he did not record any receptions, he did become the oldest player in franchise history to appear in a regular season game.
During an interview on Shannon Sharpe's " Nightcap " in October, Lewis said 2025 would be his final season.
"This will be the first time I've ever said this — because I haven't — but this is it," Lewis told Sharpe and co-host Chad Johnson.
Lewis said he's been playing football since he was seven years old, and he now plans to travel the world. He totaled 437 receptions for 5,115 yards and 40 touchdowns in 290 career games.
