The San Francisco 49ers have a few situations to work out as the NFL's legal-tampering window opens on Monday, including the issue with offensive tackle Trent Williams ' contract.
Williams is entering the final year of his contract with a $32 million salary and a $38.84 million cap hit. He wants more financial security for the future, but at 37 years old, the 49ers haven't been willing to meet his demands.
Now, according to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the 49ers are open to trading Williams if they can't come to a resolution.
Williams has been one of the league's best offensive tackles for a while now, making 12 Pro Bowls and five All-Pro teams between his time with Washington and San Francisco .
The 49ers don't really have another option to protect Brock Purdy 's blind side in 2026 if they move on from Williams, but they may be willing to use their first-round pick on a tackle in this year's draft whether Williams leaves or not to prepare for the future.
