Even after a tough loss, Aaron Gordon couldn't stop praising Yaxel Lendeborg.
Golden State blew Denver off the floor 134-114, and Yaxel Lendeborg was the biggest reason why. The Warriors rookie went clear for 31 points, 12 boards, and six assists.
Aaron Gordon had his hands full trying to slow him down, managing just seven points before getting tossed late on a double-technical.
It capped off a wild first week for Lendeborg, who has backed up his electric scoring with zero fear, already ruffling feathers on opening night by taking direct aim at Luka Doncic's whistle-hunting.
Aaron Gordon reckons Yaxel Lendeborg will be special
You don't usually see a veteran give up praise like this after getting run off the court, but Aaron Gordon didn't sugarcoat what he just went up against. Having some of the night trying to contain Lendeborg, Gordon made it obvious he thinks the Warriors rookie is the real deal.
The San Francisco Chronicle shared his comments: "Yaxel has an opportunity to be special in this league, man. Just, all the tools, his size, his strength, he has the mentality. He's really good, man. He's ready. It's cool to see Steve Kerr empower him. They got a good one."
He's been stuffing the stat sheet all week in what is his rookie season, averaging a wild 21.8 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 4.8 assists a night for Golden State.
