According to details shared by Variety , the NBA plans to reshape All-Star weekend coverage through a digital-first approach.
"The league hand-picked a group of influencers to cover live broadcasts, in-arena programming, on-court competitions and fan events.
"The goal is to flood social feeds with league-produced moments in real-time and attract new fans," the tweet revealed.
The initiative reflects the NBA's long-standing emphasis on global growth and younger audiences. By leveraging influencers, the league hopes to generate constant online engagement throughout the weekend.

However, critics argue that All-Star weekend's struggles stem less from marketing and more from declining competitiveness and player intensity.
NBA fans react negatively to Adam Silver's plan
Fan reaction was swift and pointed across social media platforms. Many supporters questioned whether increasing influencer presence addresses the product itself.
"Absolutely no NBA fan wants this. Glad we're selling out to 7-year-olds." Another added, "How about just making existing fans happy?"
Frustration also centered on the perceived imbalance between entertainment and basketball. "I remember when Mr. Beast was on my TV screen longer than Cade's team."

Some comments reflected nostalgia and disappointment. "What happened to the game I loved?" Perhaps the sharpest critique targeted leadership directly. "Adam Silver doesn't have a pulse on what NBA fans want."
The backlash highlights a recurring tension. The league continues to chase new audiences while parts of its core fanbase feel overlooked.
All-Star weekend once thrived on star pride and genuine competition. Whether influencers can restore excitement remains uncertain.
