Michigan basketball watched Aday Mara ascend during March Madness , culminating in the national title win. Pro teams already likely fawned over the 7-foot-3 center’s knack for protecting the rim. But his combine measurements now has his NBA Draft stock soaring.
Draft expert Jonathan Givony revealed what Mara’s measurements were, which will grab eyes .
“Michigan’s Aday Mara measured 7’3 barefoot and 260 pounds at the NBA Draft Combine, with a 7’6 wingspan and 9’9 standing reach,” Givony posted on the social media website X, formerly Twitter. “Absolutely absurd measurements.”
Mara even tied one notable draft prospect’s mark while falling behind another famed center.
“Tied with Mark Williams for the second-longest standing reach in Combine history, behind only Tacko Fall ,” Givony added.
The 24-year-old Williams tipped the scales at 7-foot-1 entering the league. He eventually landed at No. 15 overall with the Charlotte Hornets . Williams is now with the Phoenix Suns and is fresh off an NBA Playoffs appearance.
Fall was even taller, though, in standing at 7-foot-6 when he came to the draft. But he went undrafted in 2019 out of UCF. He eventually played three seasons with the Boston Celtics and two with the Cleveland Cavaliers but has mostly played overseas.
The Michigan star Mara is rising as a potential lottery pick now that the official draft order is complete. The Atlanta Hawks rise as one possibility at No. 8 overall . Atlanta became overpowered down low in the end, helping lead into its early postseason exit against the New York Knicks .
Pro teams will love Mara’s defense and low post ability heading into the league.
