Star running back Ahmad Hardy made his first appearance for Missouri football on Saturday, Oct. 31, after suffering a gunshot wound to the leg in the offseason.
Hardy, who rushed for an SEC-leading 1,649 yards with 16 touchdowns last season, rushed two times for 5 yards against Arkansas in the first half in Week 9. He later broke off a 37-yard rush vs. the Razorbacks late in the fourth quarter. He was cleared to start practicing this week after a long recovery process following the injury.
Hardy was shot in the leg while attending an outdoor concert on May 10 in Mississippi, his home state. He received emergency surgery after being shot.
Jamal Roberts has stepped up as one of the best running backs in college football during Hardy's absence, as he entered Saturday's game with 867 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns this season.
Missouri coach Eliah Drinkwitz originally told reporters that Hardy would need a two-week ramp-up period in practice before returning to game action. He apparently changed his mind on that format after Hardy returned to practice on Monday.
The first-team All-American in 2025 appears to be on a pinch count against Arkansas. While he might not be able to take a full load of carries right away, or for the rest of the season, Hardy is still a huge boost to the Tigers offense.
