- Alabama basketball parent responds to redshirt talks surrounding son
Redshirt talks have been happening for a handful of Alabama basketball players, and Keitenn Bristow was the latest to enter the conversation.
Crimson Tide coach Nate Oats said Tuesday, Feb. 10 that the sophomore forward was considering a medical redshirt after having missed seven games due to injury since his last outing against Texas.
Oats shared that the decision would be left up to trainer Clarke Holter and "Bristow's camp."
"I'm not sure where it stands at this point," Oats said.
A member of Bristow's camp, Katrina Bristow — Keitenn's mother — spoke out in the hours after Oats' statement.

In a post to X , Katrina wrote, "Only thing that will keep Keitenn from playing is an injury such as a tear and it healing properly."
Bristow has dealt with the ramifications of an ankle sprain throughout the 2025-26 season, his first at Alabama after transferring from Tarleton State. He has also experienced leg injuries.
"Pt, money, teammates, coaches, family will never stop him from stepping on the floor and playing the game that he works his ass off for. #RollTide," she continued.
In 10 games, Bristow has averaged 3.6 points and four rebounds per game for the Crimson Tide. A timetable for his return is unknown.
