It doesn't matter what round it is.
It doesn't matter what pick number gets called.
When you come out of Alabama Crimson Tide football , you carry something different with you.
And now, Jam Miller is the next one headed to the NFL.
The Patriots selected the Alabama running back with the No. 245 overall pick in the seventh round of the 2026 NFL Draft, and if you know anything about how this program works, you already know this story isn't about where he was drafted. It's about what comes next.

Because Jam Miller isn't just another late-round pick.
He's a competitor.
He's a grinder.
And he's about to walk into a situation where he can prove a lot of people wrong.
Last season in Tuscaloosa didn't fully show everything Miller is capable of. Alabama's backfield was crowded, touches were split, and rhythm was hard to find at times. But even in that, Miller still produced, finishing his final season with 504 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
He flashed that burst, that speed, and that ability to make something out of nothing when the opportunity came.
But if you zoom out and look at the full body of work, it tells a bigger story.

Over his career at Alabama, Miller recorded 349 carries for 1,596 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also added 40 receptions for 336 yards and two receiving touchdowns.
That's versatility.
That's reliability.
That's a back who can do more than just run between the tackles, he can contribute in multiple ways, which matters at the next level.
And here's the part people need to understand: Miller's talent was never the question.
This is a guy who was widely respected for his athleticism, his explosiveness, and his ability to impact a game. He's got that next gear when he hits the open field. He's got balance through contact. And he's got the kind of work ethic you don't always see on a stat sheet.

That's exactly why this pick feels like one of those classic "watch this age well" moments.
New England didn't just take a flyer.
They took a chance on upside.
Now, Miller walks into training camp with everything in front of him.
Nothing guaranteed.
Nothing handed to him.
Just an opportunity, and sometimes, that's all a player like him needs.
He'll have to fight. He'll have to earn every rep. He'll have to carve out his role, whether that's on special teams, as a depth back, or working his way into that rotation.
But if there's one thing Alabama has consistently proven over the years, it's this, guys built in Tuscaloosa know how to compete when their backs are against the wall.

Jam Miller fits that mold.
This isn't the end of his story.
It's the beginning of it.
And don't be surprised when people look back on this pick and realize the Patriots may have found more than just a seventh-round running back.
They might have found a difference-maker.
Roll Tide.
