Alabama wide receiver Jalen Hale has officially entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, according to a report from On3's Pete Nakos, marking the end of his three-year stint with the Crimson Tide.
Hale's time in Tuscaloosa was one filled with promise, flashes of production, and unfortunate setbacks. During the 2025 season, the junior appeared in five games but did not record a reception. His opportunities were limited as he continued to work his way back from a knee injury that sidelined him for the entire 2024 campaign. That injury ultimately led to Hale being granted a medical redshirt, preserving a year of eligibility as he now searches for a fresh start.
The Texas native first made his presence felt as a true freshman in 2023. Hale saw action in 13 games that season and finished the year with five receptions for 148 yards and a touchdown. While the raw numbers were modest, his size, athleticism, and upside were evident, especially for a young receiver learning the ropes in a crowded and competitive Alabama wide receiver room.
Before arriving in Tuscaloosa, Hale was one of the most highly regarded prospects in the 2023 recruiting class. He starred at Longview High School in Texas, earning four-star status and national recognition. According to the Rivals Industry Rankings, Hale was rated as the No. 38 overall player in the country and the No. 7 wide receiver in his class, making him a significant recruiting win for Alabama at the time.
Hale now becomes the seventh Alabama player to announce his intention to enter the transfer portal this cycle, highlighting what has been an active offseason for the Crimson Tide. Alabama currently sits No. 61 in On3's 2025 Team Transfer Portal Rankings, a number that reflects both departures and the opportunity ahead.
As Alabama looks toward the 2026 offseason, roster reshuffling will remain a key storyline. It's not uncommon for players to come and go, now that the transfer portal and NIL have changed the college football world. This is just part of the game now.
For Hale, the portal represents a chance to reset, get healthy, and potentially find a program where his talent can fully translate into on-field production.
