A potential trade featuring Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun and Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo seems to be gaining plenty of interest.
Sengun is going through his second playoff appearance while Antetokounmpo is watching from home after Milwaukee failed to qualify for the postseason. However, Houston suffered a Game 1 upset loss to the Los Angeles Lakers as it puts into question the team’s chances of competing for a title.
Bill Simmons and Zach Lowe discussed the trade scenario during an April 20 segment of the Bill Simmons Podcast. The idea that a Sengun for Antetokounmpo trade package could be a factor in the way the Rockets series plays out with the Lakers, puts more pressure on the Rockets. Both Simmons and Sengun thought so as well.
“Is Sengun, Giannis as the focal points of a trade more or less realistic to you than it was a week ago?” Simmons said at the 56:02 mark.
“More, for sure, I mean if they mailed down in this series,” Lowe replied before Simmons stated, “I think the stock has gone way up on that one.”
What lies ahead for Alperen Sengun , Rockets
The Rockets would have to add players alongside Alperen Sengun to match a trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo and throw in picks as well it would seem, but it’s an interesting contending team that could maybe get that deal done.
In the meantime, Sengun hopes to get the Rockets past the first round. They were unsuccessful last year after losing to the Golden State Warriors in seven games despite being the 2-seed. They will hope to not suffer another first-round exit this time around.
Houston went down 1-0 in the series after losing 107-98 to the Lakers in Game 1. They will look to avoid a 2-0 series deficit as they take on Los Angeles in Game 2 on April 21 at 10:30 p.m. ET.
