Speaking after the match, Iraola said: "I was happy for them. Different positions, different demands. The best thing is that they were dead when I subbed them. Trey was cramping, Rio couldn't have run a lot more, McConnell the same. When this happens is because you've given your all. They've been very energetic".
It was a revealing assessment from the Liverpool head coach. Rather than focusing purely on technical quality, the emphasis was on intensity, work rate and the ability of young players to cope with senior demands in different roles across the pitch. That matters at a club where opportunities for academy talents must be earned through application as much as ability.

Liverpool Youngsters Impress Iraola
Iraola's comments point to a clear satisfaction with the contribution of his younger players, particularly in how they handled the physical side of the contest. Trey Nyoni's cramp and the visible fatigue shown by Rio and McConnell were framed as positives, evidence that each player had emptied the tank.
For a coach who places huge value on energy and collective effort, that level of commitment will carry weight. Young players often need moments like this to build trust, and these appearances suggest Liverpool's emerging talents are beginning to show they can meet the standard required.
