Andrew Whitworth explained on Fitz and Whit that he was a bit salty with Harrison Mevis after the Los Angeles Rams lost to the Buffalo Bills, and it wasn't only because Mevis missed crucial kicks. It was because Mevis was laughing with Bills players after the loss.
Whitworth said that laughing after a loss doesn't line up with how the Rams feel as a team, and it doesn't line up with head coach Sean McVay. Odds are that Mevis would've been released after that game regardless of how Mevis acted, but Whitworth alludes it may have been a nail in the coffin for Mevis's time with the Rams.
Whitworth could be speaking for himself; he could be speaking for some players and coaches on the team. It's an interesting take by "Big Whit".
The end of a football game is an emotional time typically for both teams as one is elated from their victory, the other gutted from a loss, or it's a tie in which case no one knows how to feel. Players handle those emotions and outcomes differently.
When players laugh after a loss, I see both sides. On the one hand you lost, what's funny? On the other hand, these guys are playing in some cases their brothers, best friends, family, college teammates, high school teammates and longtime rivals and more. I can understand how a player can be gutted from a loss, but still excited to see someone they care about.
I don't disagree with what Whit is saying because it's his opinion. What I will say is whether Mevis was laughing or not after the loss if he was the best kicker in the league, he'd still be on the team.
Mevis wasn't the best kicker in the league, and his laughing after a loss didn't help his case with the Rams. It will be interesting to see if Mevis gets another shot elsewhere. It'll be interesting to see if the Rams can find a kicker.
"The identity and the mentality of football teams that are really good usually match up. Like, when you go look at the teams that lose a lot, I can show you a lot of guys that don't always show they care the most. But like, if you are in the mood to go laugh and keekee with some Bills players after the game, you don't match up to the head coach's mentality because I know that dude. Like, the whole world stops when he doesn't perform. When Matthew Stafford, at this point in his career, what he's trying to accomplish, what Davante Adams wants, what Aaron Donald came back for, right? Like, there is no answer other than winning. You see, Mevis gets released. It's exactly what I'm saying. There's an identity and mentality to our football team."
"The Arizona Cardinals will face the Los Angeles Rams , but they do get a little bit of a break. Pass rusher Myles Garrett will not return this week.
Garrett, on injured reserve with a knee injury, was eligible to have his practice window opened this week. That didn't happen. Head coach Sean McVay told reporters Tuesday that Garrett would not practice this week.
He could potentially in Week 7, but the Cardinals will miss him.
However, while Garrett won't play, the Cardinals will still have to face pass rusher Byron Young, who leads the Rams with 3.5 sacks through five games."
"The Rams (2-3) are trying to get on track after an erratic start to the season, while the Cardinals (1-4) are seeking to recapture the success of their surprising season-opening visit to SoFi Stadium, when they knocked off the building's other tenant, the Chargers. In short, there is a lot more for both sides to worry about rather than friendships and returning to one's former place of employment.
"As much as I love Sean, I haven't really thought of him too much," LaFleur said. "I'm sure he's kind of feeling the same way about me right now."
"Given the issues on special teams, it's hard to put a lot of faith in this team. They continuously invent new ways to lose. For the first time this season, the Rams are no longer Super Bowl favorites as that belongs to the San Francisco 49ers.
At the same time, if the Rams can figure it out, there is the potential for them to go on a serious run. Here is their schedule before the bye week in Week 11:
Week 6 vs. Arizona Cardinals 1-4
Week 7 @ Las Vegas Raiders 3-2
Week 8 vs. Los Angeles Chargers 0-5
Week 9 @ Washington Commanders 1-3-1
Week 10 @ Arizona Cardinals 1-4
The combined record for those teams is 6-18-1. That's the lowest strength of schedule over the next five games in the NFL.It's important not to look too far ahead in the NFL, but those are five very winnable games. The Rams could easily go into their bye week with a 7-3 record. At that point, the Rams may only be one or two games back in the NFC West behind the 49ers."
"Twelve and a half points is the biggest handicap on the Week 6 board, and it is being laid by a team with a losing record. The Rams are 2-3. Their point difference is minus one.
The case for the number is that the matchup is brutal. Los Angeles lead the NFL in passing at 310.4 yards a gameand are second in passing yards allowed at 163.4. They throw it better than anyone and stop it better than almost anyone. Arizona concede 32.4 points a game, the most in the league."
"Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay, quarterback Matthew Stafford, wide receivers Davante Adams & Puka Nacua, and defensive end Aaron Donald speak with the media on Thursday. Watch them reflect on lessons from Monday's matchup vs. the Buffalo Bills, preview Week 6 against the Arizona Cardinals, and more."
"The problem isn't necessarily how the Rams finish games or what the offense does when its backs are against the wall and it needs a score. They've been excellent when urgency is required, especially in two-minute situations. It's more about the opportunities they miss before they reach the finish line.
"There's chances all over the place in games to snatch the momentum, or go pile on a lead, or claw back a little closer, so it's not just about one possession at the end of the game, or whatever that is," Stafford said.
Over their last three games, the Rams have mastered the art of playing with their backs against the wall. Now they need to figure out how to play with that same sense of desperation before their opponent puts it there."
"Every season in the NFL produces performances that feel less like a single game and more like statistical outliers — explosive outings where quarterbacks pile up passing yards, running backs break off long scoring runs, and receivers turn routine targets into multi-touchdown afternoons. These are the kinds of games that separate good fantasy weeks from historic ones.
Stacker compiled a ranking of the best Los Angeles Rams fantasy performances in the 2026 season using data from Stathead . The list includes the highest single-game fantasy scores by quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, and tight ends. Players are ranked based on standard fantasy scoring."
""You expect somebody to be more frantic in some of those situations than what he is," wide receiver Davante Adams said on Thursday of Stafford's demeanor during two-minute drills. "I always allude to the fact that he's the coolest and most collected guy that I've been around. Period. But just the way he commands the huddle in some of those moments is special. And I think that we get a lot of our confidence from him just based off that he seems and feels in the moment. So (we) just kind of follow that."
The way the Rams quarterback conducts himself in the huddle and on the field in late-game situations with everything on the line sets the tone for the rest of the offense. And on Monday night against the Bills, Stafford excelled in those moments with the highest pressure."
"The Cardinals have typically provided the Rams a 'get right' opportunity in past seasons. After losing two straight last year, the Rams beat the Cardinals in Week 18 before going into the playoffs. It was what the Rams needed to feel good heading into the postseason. Following the loss to the Bills, the Rams need that more than ever.
Heading into Sunday, the Rams will be without left tackle Alaric Jackson as he serves a suspension from the NFL following an incident after the Bills' game. That will leave the Rams with David Quessenberry at left tackle. The last time the Rams were without Jackson against the Cardinals, they lost, 41-10, and Dennis Gardeck had three sacks. The Cardinals have generated pressure on just 30.3 percent of dropbacks this season, which is the second-lowest rate in the NFL. "
"I'm not going to lie Ramily but I'm really intrigued to see how Trost pans out I'm a fan of him he's a dawg man. My thing is he's a RT going to left? I mean he had 650 snaps at LT in College." -Jballa2005
