What it will take for Angels to become 'dynamic franchise' appeared first on ClutchPoints . Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here .
The Los Angeles Angels have been on the struggle bus so far on the 2026 MLB season, currently sitting at 36-51 as the MLB All-Star break approaches. While the Angels weren't necessarily expected to be playoff contenders, it's still been a disappointing first half for the franchise.
Still, many feel that the Angels have the pieces in place to become a real threat in the AL sooner rather than later, and recently, MLB insider Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic broke down the next thing that needs to happen in order to make that a reality.
"The Angels are a sleeping giant. If they ever get a new owner, I imagine they will be a very dynamic franchise in short order. The way (Arte) Moreno has run them, they have not been a dynamic franchise, even with (Shohei) Ohtani and (Mike) Trout on the same team, albeit injured for much of that. But this is a team that in a huge market in a place that players want to be. Who doesn't want to be in Orange County, California? It's beautiful," said Rosenthal, per Foul Territory on X, formerly Twitter.
Indeed, Moreno has come under fire at times for his stewardship of the franchise, not shelling out the big bucks to pursue or keep star free agents and squandering the period in which the team had Shohei Ohtani, whom many consider to already be the greatest player of all time, in the organization.
If the Angels want to take a true next step into relevance and take advantage of the resources at their disposal, it may have to be with a new person at the helm of the franchise.
