The Los Angeles Angels have re-signed a relief pitcher for the sixth time over the past two seasons.
According to an announcement from the AL West club, right-hander Shaun Anderson has signed a minor league deal with the Angels.
"Halos fans are familiar with the shuffle at this point. Anderson is out of options and needs to get through waivers every time the Angels want to send him back to Triple-A," Anthony Franco of MLB Trade Rumors wrote Tuesday.
"They select his contract, keep him on the roster for a few days, then designate him for assignment. He clears waivers, elects free agency, then signs a new minor league deal."
Anderson began his career as a swingman with the San Francisco Giants in 2019, making 16 starts in 28 games.
That season, he posted a 5.44 ERA and has made just two starts since, a brief stint with the Miami Marlins two seasons ago.

Anderson has thrown 28 Major League innings for the Angels in the past two seasons, but his 7.71 ERA with nine home runs allowed during that time is quite an ugly result.
The 31-year-old has worn seven different uniforms since the start of the 2021 season.
