Cade Cavalli was pulled from his final start of August after getting hit by a comebacker. He had cruised through four hitless innings, but his streak of nine straight quality starts ended.
Cavalli started a new streak last time out, holding the Dodgers to 2 ERs over 6 IP. He's allowed 3 ERs or fewer in 16 consecutive starts. Cavalli faces an Angels squad that ranks 27th in wRC + over the last 30 days.
Yusei Kikuchi is more of a question mark. He got off to a brutal start to the season, then missed three months with a shoulder injury.
Kikuchi has put together two of his best starts of the year in his last two appearances. The lefty has dropped the cutter from his arsenal since returning from the IL.
It was his worst pitch by Run Value. He's throwing more fastballs and curveballs, while trimming the splitter usage. The adjustments have worked so far.
Washington has been a middling offense against lefties since the start of August.
Pick: F5 Under 4.5 (-138)
