Assessing Alex Harkey's performance at the 2026 NFL Combine

The 2026 NFL Combine is coming to a close on Sunday afternoon, but not before the big boys can take the field and show what they can do. It's the offensive linemen's day in Indianapolis , meaning for the Oregon Ducks , the likes of Emmanuel Pregnon and Alex Harkey are taking the field. Unfortunately, Isaiah World was supposed to join them, but a knee injury is holding him out.

Harkey played for a year at Oregon, transferring from Texas State, and served as the starting right tackle for the Ducks . He was solid throughout much of the year, but struggled at times with penalty issues. It was interesting to see what he could do when testing out at the combine, with teams trying to figure out where exactly he is going to play at the NFL level, outside at tackle, or inside at guard, due to his relative lack of length.

"Harkey has the mass to play guard but needs to prove he has the core strength to deal with interior bullies," it reads on NFL.com's profile of Harkey. "He can operate in both gap and zone schemes. However, he will need better patience/body control to fit and sustain at the desired level. Harkey’s experience at tackle and his athletic tools create a real opportunity to become a successful interior protector, provided he can hold up to the bull rush. Harkey projects as a backup guard with starting potential."

Harkey participated in meetings with the media and with NFL teams, an extremely important piece of the scouting process.

While Harkey opted out of doing any of the agility testing, he is expected to go through the drills at Oregon's Pro Day in March and will look to prove himself there.
