Houston Astros star Carlos Correa was scratched from the team’s lineup ahead of Tuesday’s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers with an ankle injury. It was later reported that the injury was considered to be serious . According to Chandler Rome of The Athletic, Correa will need season-ending ankle surgery.
“ Carlos Correa needs season-ending surgery on a torn tendon in his left ankle. Recovery is 6-8 months, he said,” Rome reported.
The Astros have dealt with no shortage of injuries so far in 2026. Their overall performance has been impacted, as Houston is currently just 15-22 and in fourth place in the American League West standings.
The Astros could potentially still compete, but doing so without Correa will prove to be a challenge.
The 31-year-old infielder was hitting .279/.369/.418 across 32 games played before suffering the season-ending injury. He was playing well despite the Astros’ overall underwhelming campaign.
If Houston is unable to bounce back, 2026 could end up being a rebuilding season. The team’s performance over the next few months will determine their trade deadline plans. Either way, losing Carlos Correa to injury is a significant blow without question.
Houston is currently preparing to play the final contest of a three-game series against the Dodgers on Wednesday. LA won the first game 8-3 on Monday before the Astros bounced back with a 2-1 win on Tuesday. It has been a competitive series and the Astros will look to earn a win in the final game despite Carlos Correa’s injury absence.
First pitch is scheduled for 2:10 PM EST in Houston.
