The final game of Day 6 of the 2026 World Cup was Austria vs Jordan at the San Francisco Bay Area Stadium. Both teams are in Group J along with Argentina and Algeria , who played before this match.
Austria won the match 3-1 with goals from Romano Schmid , an own goal from Yazan Abu Al Arab, and a goal from Marko Arnautovic ; Ali Iyad Olwan made history and scored Jordan's first-ever World Cup goal.
The game was intense from the first minute, with both teams desperate to get the goal early. Austria had more possession, but Jordan were very dangerous in the transitions with their quick players.
Nevertheless, Austria took the lead after a great team play around the box, leaving Romano Schmid with space, and the Austrian shoots outside the box to score the opener.
Schmid's screamer arrived in the 20th minute of the match, and it was the only goal of the first half.

Austria thought they retook the lead in the 67th minute through a goal from Marko Arnautovic, but the goal was disallowed for a handball on Stefan Posch .
Ten minutes later, Austria would take the lead, and it would count as a ball from a corner that is headed by a Jordan defender, Yazan Abu Al Arab, who puts it in his own net.
In the final play of the match, a shot from Marko Arnautovic is blocked by a handball. VAR decided to award Austria a penalty, and Arnautovic scored the third to seal the win.
