The Colorado Avalanche have clinched the Presidents' Trophy as the top team in the regular season. As they prepare for a run in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Nazem Kadri has been missing from the lineup.

Now, head coach Jared Bednar has given an update on the status of Kadri ahead of the playoffs.
"He's going to miss some games here, and then hopefully we'll get him in before playoffs, like playing maybe next week," Bednar said.
Kadri has missed the last two games after sustaining an injury to his finger against the St. Louis Blues on April 7. Kadri was traded to the Avalanche from the Calgary Flames, returning him to the franchise on March 6. In 16 games with the club, he has found the back of the net four times while adding five assists. He has also been a solid asset on the powerplay, with three goals and three assists.
Before the trade, Kadri lit the lamp 12 times and added 29 helpers with the Flames. The Canadian center was the seventh overall selection in the 2009 NHL Draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs. He would stay with the Leafs through the 2018-19 campaign and would be traded that summer to the Avs. He went on to play three seasons in Colorado, most notably his stellar 2021-22 campaign.

That season, he scored 28 goals and added 59 assists, for a career high of 87 points. He also added 15 points in the playoffs on the way to helping the team lift the Stanley Cup.
The Avalanche, who are 52-16-11 , have just three games left in the regular season. They will visit the Edmonton Oilers on Monday and then go to Calgary on Tuesday. The team finished their campaign on Thursday at home against the Seattle Kraken.
