Ball State names starting quarterback for season opener at Ohio State
The Ohio State Buckeyes now know which quarterback they will be facing off against in the Week 1 season opener.
Ball State named Keldric Luster its starting quarterback for the Sept. 5 matchup against the top-ranked Buckeyes. Luster is a redshirt junior transfer who has previously played for SMU and Texas State. Luster won the job over Division II transfer Tyler Mizzell during the Cardinals' preseason competition.

The 5-foot-10, 225-pound Luster has not had an extended opportunity to be a starter at his previous stops, but he will give first-year Ball State head coach Mike Uremovich a mobile quarterback who has had experience in multiple systems.
The Buckeyes will host Ball State at 12:30 p.m. ET on Sept. 5, with the game scheduled to air on the Big Ten Network. Ohio State will enter the game as a significant favorite and will look to have their defense ready and prepared, as they will have a big Week 2 matchup against the Texas Longhorns looming.
For Luster and Ball State, it will certainly be an intimidating debut; the Cardinals quarterback will be tested from his very first snap.
