Barcelona are on the verge of securing Iker Rodriguez's future, with the final details of a contract renewal for the promising 18-year-old goalkeeper agreed and the signing expected imminently, as reported by Mundo Deportivo .
The Barça Atletic goalkeeper has attracted interest from several European clubs, but the Catalan club view him as a long-term first-team prospect and are set to secure the future of one of Spain's most promising young goalkeepers.
Barcelona's sporting department began working on Rodriguez's renewal in early July after several European clubs expressed interest in signing him.
At the time, the goalkeeper's extension was considered all but certain, but the formal signing was delayed by scheduling issues, administrative procedures and adjustments to the contract wording.
Those issues have now been resolved, with the agreement finalised and only the signatures remaining. The deal is expected to be completed imminently, either before the end of the week or during the following week.

Although the precise terms have yet to be confirmed, the contract is expected to follow the club's customary structure for promising academy players, potentially involving an initial two-year agreement with an additional three-year extension.
The deal would formally be with the reserve team, while Barcelona would retain the option of integrating him into the first-team structure.
Rodriguez joined Barcelona at pre-benjamin level and has since progressed through the club's youth system, while representing Spain at across various age-group levels.
The teenager also took part in some of Hansi Flick's first-team pre-season preparations, giving the German coach and his staff an opportunity to assess his development at close quarters.

He is now an important member of Juliano Belletti's Barça Atletic side. The reserve team leads the standings in the Segunda Federacion after conceding just four goals in its opening eight matches, with Rodriguez playing a key role and keeping five clean sheets.
His consistent involvement has been central to Barcelona's development plan.
Rather than leaving him on the fringes of the senior squad, the club want him to continue gaining experience through regular competitive football while remaining on the pathway towards a first-team opportunity.
Barcelona see a potential route into the first team for Rodriguez when Wojciech Szczesny's contract expires in 2027. Until then, the belief is that continued development with the reserve side will help prepare him for the demands of senior football.
